It's been some time since I last posted. Facebook takes up more of my time it seems, and working eats up some more. That leaves little time for me to tend to the household chores and get in walks with Cleo it seems. However, it's no more nor less than anyone else deals with, so that's no excuse is it.
Today I joined with friends and family to say goodbye to Dori Rausch. She was my friend Kim's sister-in-law, and passed in her sleep last Saturday morning. Although she lived with a life-long chronic disease, which eventually took her life, it was easy to forget. Dori never acted sick, and didn't dwell on her disease. In fact, the last time I saw her was Nathan's birthday party at the Castle Arcade in Abbotsford. She was there with her husband Al, and their son, his wife and their kids playing video games and enjoying the grandkids. That was in December. Al said she had a sleepless night and so he left her to sleep in later in the morning. When he went to wake her she was gone.
As a consequence of Dori's death, another friend of mine decided to pay attention to some strange medical symptoms she's been having, and wound up in the hospital having several CT scans. She has some rare condition wherein the lining of her arteries is peeling back. The only cure is complete rest. She's not allowed to have chiropractic treatments, physio, or massage therapy while this is healing either. Hmmm, does that say something about those treatments? I dunno. She's home resting now.
Then I arrived home to the news that a 30 year old man I met about 3 months ago fell off a roof he was working on and died from brain injuries sustained in the fall. In the last 90 days Jody was turning his life around and when I saw him last Wed. night he was excited that his dad had told him he was trustworthy. Apparently Jody told his dad last week that if anything were to happen, he could at least die with dignity. Well, Jody, you did that and more, but it's still crappy if you ask me! R.I.P. little buddy.
Sometimes life hands out big hurdles!
P.S., just heard my friend Lee died yesterday in Calgary's Foothills Hospital. Liver failure. She just turned 60, and when I was able to visit her on the long weekend, she pointed out that I'm her elder after all! We've known each other since we were little. She too had turned her life around many years ago, but residual damage from bad living caught up with her anyway.

I am sorry about you friend, Viki, way too young. No wonder you sounded so sad the other day. And yes it was Kim telling me Dorie didn't sleep all night that got my attention.
